The changing patterns of winds in the region have also contributed to the melting. Interestingly, Russia who has recently tried to assert its influence in the Arctic has been attacked for expansionism and adventurism. Well, if countries do not try to assert ownership rights over such forsaken regions, there will be no incentive to study and prevent causes of global warming... If this rate of ice melting continues, half the world will end up under the water...
